This castle has Muslim origins, probable from the XIII Century when the border with Granada was definitely established.
From the castle, rising from a hill, we can point out a quadrangular tower from where hostile raids could be controlled.
This castle was a symbol of the border fightings and it is located in Fontanares, at 760 meters high and, approximately, 25 km away from the city center. It has been catalogued as Good of Cultural Interest.
